We are asking for your attention, humanity and solidarity with the 11
Iranian Arabs currently being under immediate risk of execution.
Today our organization has with deep dismay and horror taken part of
information about the planed mass-execution on the Al-Ahwazi Arabs (Arabs in
Iran). The executions are scheduled to the beginning of the next week and will
be in public and through hanging.
According to Amnesty
International, Human Rights Watch and other international and Iranian
human rights organizations the trials of all ten men were deeply flawed. A ll the evidence points to their innocence. (
http://hrw.org/english/docs/2006/11/11/iran14560.htm) All 10 men were tortured into making false confessions. Their lawyers
were not allowed to see them prior to their trial and they were given the
prosecution case only hours before the start of the trial, which was held in
secret. The lawyers for the condemned men have been arrested for complaining
about the illegal and unjust nature of the men's trials. They have been charged
with threatening national security. The convictions are evidently
arbitrary and are intended to collectively punish Ahwazi Arabs for opposing the
system of apartheid that they are subjected to.
So dear countrymen, as the largest ethnic group in Iran, and as a
people with a tradition of fighting for justice no matter who it concerns, we
hope that we will show the greatness of our people also this time. Therefore we,
from the Azerbaijani Youth Association in Sweden strongly Urge ALL
Azerbaijanis to, as our organization has done, fully and actively support the
worldwide campaign that has been started by the Ahwazi-Arabs in order to prevent
these bestial sentences to be carried out.
It was not to long ago that we Azerbaijanis had dozens of the sons of our
nation becoming martyrs because of the brutality of the chauvinistic regime of
the Islamic Republic of Iran. We ask you to not make difference when it comes to
life, and we are making an emergency appeal to you to try to save the lives of
these men.
Our organization has temporary dropped all their activities in order to
engage in this case, including the campaign on the recently re-arrested Mr.
Abbas Lesani. We have today introduced this case to the Swedish Foreign Affairs
committee, to our contacts in the European Parliament as well as in the British
Parliament. Two questions to the Foreign Affairs minister in Sweden Mr. Carl
Bildt have already been drafted, as well as letters to the Iranian Embassy in
Stockholm and in Brussels. We have also directly gotten in touch with the office
of Mr. Carl Bildt and provided information regarding this. Questions to the
European commission will also be released soon as well as several press
releases.
You can find all information we have access to in the attached files,
including the Urgent Action of Amnesty International and the Al-Ahwazi Human
rights organization's letter to Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary-general of the United
Nations. Please send this information to journalists and members of the
parliament in your countries, as well as all other organizations or persons you
think might be able to make a difference.
IIT IS URGENT, AND IT CAN MAKE A CHANGE.
Thank you for reading our letter and remember that it is only together that
we can achieve the real great changes!
Long Live Freedom !
Long Live All Freedom Fighters!
Respectfully
Nergiz Nedaei
